Let's talk about the food, where El Rancherito truly shines. The flautas, beloved by many, are a crunchy delight that holds up during the journey home, as noted by patron Emily Cernick. Coupled with sides such as rice and beans, these dishes provide a burst of flavor that transports you straight to Mexico. The green hot sauce is a must-try, adding a spicy kick that complements the dishes beautifully.
For those seeking hearty portions, El Rancherito does not disappoint. Reviews from guests like Groovy Dude laud the freshness of the ingredients and the generous servings, asserting that this establishment serves "legit Mexican food." The burritos, while limited in variety, offer great value for money, leaving diners satisfied without breaking the bank, as shared by Jill S.
Moreover, the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed dining experience. Guests like Subash Dangal enjoy the soothing ambiance and pleasant art, creating a sensory backdrop for an enjoyable meal. Meanwhile, for those on the go, the efficient takeout service includes complimentary chips and salsa, a thoughtful gesture that adds to the experience, mentioned by Tony Behrens, who praised the Al Pastor as among the best in the city.
In conclusion, El Rancherito is more than just a restaurant; it’s a community spot where delicious food and warmth come together. If you find yourself in Kentwood, make sure to stop by and indulge in a meal that promises great flavors and even better memories.
“ Limited menu options but the burritos were decent for the cost. The salsa n chips was really good. ”
“ Ordered flautas and they were so filling, loved the salsa that they bring out to the table the only thing I noticed was that the chips didn't look homemade, they looked store bought. The chips were crisp and tasty but I look forward to a good crispy fresh tortilla chip with salsa when I go to Mexican restaurants. The salsa however was so yummy and just the right amount of spice I will say that the menu seemed smaller than I'm used to. My husband ordered tacos of different varieties and they looked good and they were well portionrd with meat and double layered with milagro tortillas. If they have the strawberry horchata be sure to try it, you won't regret it if it tastes anything like their regular horchata. My husband liked the agua de Jamaica he had. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because they didn't have AC and it was a hot day so with the food I was sweating eating it. ”
“ Great food, dined in and the food was all fresh and portions were AMAZING. Staff is super nice and very friendly. Legit Mexican food, go there if you're in the area. ”
“ Enjoyed the flautas (12.50) , rice and beans ($3) and horchata to go. The flautas held up until I got home about 20 minutes later. They were still nice and crunchy. The green hot sauce was also good! ”
“ Everything was very fresh. Super crunchy flautas full of toppings! Very flavorful tacos and the hostess up front is extremely nice. ”

“ I ordered take out, and I was pleasantly surprised with a bowl of chips and salsa for my wait. The staff as incredibly friendly and the food was worth every penny! Rice and beans exceeded expectations, and the Al Pastor was some of the best I have had in the city. ”
